The capabilities of our 3D CNC Router and CNC machines allows us to work on a diverse range of materials some of which our Hard wood, Soft wood, Perspex, Aluminium, PVC, Carbon Fibre, etc please check out our material section. Cutting Edge Designs have many years experience supplying Northern Ireland, Ireland, UK and international customers with our CNC routing service using the very best in CNC machines.
Our workshop contains specialist CNC machines including our CNC router which are controlled by our programmers and skilled craftsmen. This enables us to make a wide range of precision products in large quantities. Large contracts are undertaken for our CNC routing service which is available in Northern Ireland, Ireland or the UK.
You can supply us your own files ready for us to use on our CNC Router and CNC machines or we can provide a CAD drawing service to use with our CNC router. We are flexible when it comes to materials either sourcing the materials for you or accepting your own which ever is more convenient to you.
Please have a look around our site and if you have any enquires please drop us an email or phone us we will be glad to help.
Workshop:
Our workshop now contains three cnc routers among various other equipment.
CNC Router 1
This Cnc Router is a Texcel machine with a cutting size of 3100 x2070mm by a max material thickness of 100mm, it uses precision ball screws on all axis and has a fully automatic tool changer .This cnc router is mainly used for the sign trade cnc routing work it is fast and very accurate it is a fully digital cnc router which makes it superior to lesser cnc routers.
CNC Router 2
This Cnc Router is also a Texcel brand cnc router it is a bit smaller than cnc router 1 it has a bed size of 2500 x 1320mm, Again this cnc router has precision ball screws in all axis and is a fully digital machine again this cnc router is very accurate and we mainly use it for long running jobs like engraving and 3d carvings as well as everyday jobs it has a very good vacuum system so it is very good for holding small work pieces.
CNC Router 3
This Cnc Router is a large high production machine made by Shoda, it’s a monster of a cnc router it also uses precision ball screws it has a cutting size of 5100 x 2100mm with a material thickness of 300mm it has 9 high powered spindle motors. This Cnc router is mainly used for cutting Slatwall panels and high production work, this cnc router is semi digital therefore it is a bit older than the other cnc router but this cnc router is built to last we have nicknamed it the hulk because it big mean and green.
Just a Personal note
Among our cnc routers which are all beining used for Trade Cnc Routing we have various other bits off machinery which allows us to make virtually anything you can think of, within the last 12 years of doing this job I have been ask to make a lot of weird and wonderful thing some very technical although hard at the time we got it sorted out and iam proud to say that I have not been beaten with a project since I have started within the Cnc Routing Industry over a decade ago.

What is CNC Routing? |
| |
CNC Routing is a powerful overhead router moving under computer control to cut and profile sheet materials laid on a bed surface. |
| |
|
 |
How is the material held? |
| |
There are two options here 1. Is a powerful vacuum pump which sucks the material the bed surface preventing movement.2. Is the use of mechanical clamps to hold the material in place |
| |
|
 |
Whats the advantage of computer controlled routers? |
| |
Accuracy and repeatability for a start .The router has a tolerance of +- 0.05mm so multiple components will be exactly the same. |
| |
|
 |
How does the router know what directions to move? |
| |
Its all drawn on computer aided design (CAD) software. The shape to be cut is laid out in the software and tool paths are applied by the user, this is then sent to the router which tells it how to move. |
| |
|
 |
What about last minute modification to the design? |
| |
Changes to the oringal design can normally be made quickly and easily, prototypes can be produced for approval prior to cutting batch runs. |
| |
|
 |
So the advantages of using cnc router compared with a hand router are clear cut. |
| |
Literally exactly! The batch run will cut much more quickly and will be extremely accurate. Holes ploughs and rebates will be cut with pin point precision ending the need for tedious marking out and circles and ellipses will all have perfect curves . |
| |
|
 |
How do we get are parts cut? |
| |
most of our clients send us cad files of the components they want machined the main file types we use are(A.I, EPS, PLT, DXF, DWG) it does not matter really what file type you send us we have a lot of software that can access your drawings. |
| |
|
 |
What if we do not have CAD drawings? |
| |
If this is the case we can supply you with a cad drawing service .Simply fax or email us a sketch of the component with its measurements and we will draw it for you, |
for more information please email or phone us we will be glad to help.
